Default smth on my mind

i have to say that im little disapointed... this was my fist BWE since open events and there r few things i would ike to see in final version:
(maybe its announced already)

1. bank or storage - maybe im #$%$ but i didnt noticed any;
2. player store - you know, individual store buy/sell;
3. more types of weapon - polearms, 1h hammers, 2h swords and axes...
4. cross-class items

...and i hope in final ver it wouldnt be create '20lv PvP char' option.

It would be awesome if you were able to change the target of your Spell in the middle of the cast - so when you are casting a 5 second spell, you could just transfer it onto someone else who is alive, rather than it just pfft'ing out. (Yes, I know that isnt a word.)

It would be really spiffy, if when you take a Quest and you have to travel accoss a large distance, if your quest marker would pop up on your worldmap. I am not good with names of places. :P

It would be nice if there were a board you could trade items on where you could just post what you have and people could shop for it without people constantly spamming in villages.

Also, when you have your Salvage kit in the wrong spot in your inventory, the text stays up and you cant see what the crap you are salvaging.

Oh, can we change "Scales" to something much different than "Shells"??? People have twice tried to sell me Shells instead, and I dont know if it was by mistake or not. Could lead to nefarious business practices.

On "follow the king/prince/leader" maps, could we have a traveling marker on the person so we know where they are when they run off?

I couldn't salvage any of my AC 27 ringmail from Pre-Searing when I upgraded to 50 AC in Post-Searing. I worked hard and spent hours collecting items for Collectors for my Ringmail so I would at least like to salvage something from it for my troubles.

Speaking of Collectors: How many friggen NPCs do we have kill and how many hours does it have to take to collect Gargoyle Skulls!!??? I cleared the zone twice, died 3 times, and got 1 fricken skull drop!!

It would be nice if the collector items were defined - I handed in my 5 items (after countless kills) only to trade for a bow inferior to the one I was carrying!! Why make us spend hours collecting only to get crap in exchange!

I can appreciate the Dev team's efforts in creating the landscape but I have to tell you that Post-Searing environment gets old fast - some areas of destruction are well done but for the most part I find it bland and visually redundant and boring!

And what's up with the limited crafting options and the poor selections of product available from the Outfitters??? I got inventory slots full of materials that I cant craft a damn thing with - so what's the point other then making a few gold from players belching out the needs for only 5% of the salvageable items and this is primarily DYE! Should rename the game DYE Wars!

... There I feel better.

Great game - looking forward to the next BWE!!!

There's the trade option if you wish to sell/buy something. If I am not mistaken, more weapon types are promised and cross-class items DO exist. For example, I found a Deadly Cesta which requires 6 Blood Magic but gives +1 to Fire Magic.

I for one enjoyed the increase in difficulty... i dont want a game i can beat in a weekend... i dont even want a game i could beat in a month... none of the quests were inpossible, just had to get a good group of guys together.

I really enjoyed the new PvP system and hope it stays, i like the fact that since i can only create 4 characters at a time, i only have to have one as a pvp and that 1 can change whenever it wants... (which im sure is why yall did it)

I would like to see a better explanation of how to use signet of capture, i've never tried it, because im affraid of loosing it and i dont know how it works.

to me the whole money issue of inflation doesnt matter, as long as everything went up together or goes down together its not really relavent.

more commands as mentioned above, like /invite would be nice. also maybe a /commands, that lists the commands you can do.

i know this has been mentioned, but just to drive it home, it'd be nice to see some fun games in the guild hall, i play with my brother and would love to fight him 1v1.

Lastly a channel for people looking to do a mission, that way you could go there, and know youll find a party quick

other than that, i think the game is a masterpiece.

Default I may have metioned this before but I will do it again anyway

Its nice to have weapon upgrades. It would also be nice if we had an upgrade removal tool. Salvage kit will get the upgrade back but ruins the weapon. It would be nice to take the upgrade off and sell the weapon to someone else.

Default consignment shop

I think a lot of people would like a consignment shop. I could drop off some weapons and other things set a price and I receive the money when its sold. Could put a limit on how many items I can have in the shop at one time. And a time limit on how long they can stay in the shop. Come on devs you know its a good idea and whats a few more feilds in my player data base anyway?

This might solve alot of the WTS WTB spam.

I apologize if some of these have been mentioned before, please consider them a second vote towards that suggestion. ^_^ Also, I'm not making any effort to hold back on these ideas even when I know the're impractical to impliment in the time remaining before the game is released.

One of the first ones I had in mind was a Follow command, but someone beat me to that one. Failing that, how about arrows pointing out members of the team? Same function as the quest arrows but maybe with a different color, or a little "T" in it, or even a whole 'nother arrow shape. Scaling the image inside the compass would be nice, too, as far as tracking team members.

Waypoints on the map would be cool. By "waypoints" I mean a special mark that you can plunk down and add a breif note like "Here there be Monsters" or "Really Cool View" or something like that. Sharing them might be real tricky, but that would be neat as well. ("Meet the guild here at 4:30")

One thing that would be really nice: Being able to "roll up" some of the windows, or remove them altogether. When I was soloing, the Party Panel was a useless waste of screen space; I couldn't move the leveling bar to a more convienient location; and none of the windows would stay put when I went from field to town to field again.

I was needing to play with the sound off for a fair portion of the game, and wound up loosing my henchmen on occasion because I didn't realise they were being attacked until the life meter was almost empty. A little pulse or flash when a team member is hurt (at least for the first time within five seconds or so) would be nice. Nothing showy, just enough to get your attention.

The "Select Enemy" function had dubious usefulness. Quite often, I would select an enemy that was twice as far away and behind me instead of the one bearing down on me right then. Aggro'ed monsters (especially ones hitting me or my team!) should get priority over monsters half a league away. I know there was a "Select Team Member" button as well, but couldn't find it fast enough.

I am a social player, and I like to keep track of people I want to talk to. It would be nice to be able to add people to my Freinds list by clicking instead of typing out thier whole name, which can take up to 10 seconds and that can be an aternity online (more if you mis-spell it). I figure just adding a "Friend" button to the little tab that pops out when you select a given character (only says "Trade" at the moment) in the towns would be plenty, as far as the UI goes.

Also with the social thing, I was disappointed with the lack of areas where people could congregate and just chat, privately or publicly, without the trappings of the game (especially the requests for trades) interfering. I've seen several people mentioning a special Market Channel, which is really cool, perhaps another idea to go along with this is a filter for limited distance. It might naturally default to Shout (unless you told the game not to), but this way folks could go off and stand in a private corner and not bother other people who have other things on thier minds. Team chat might be a work around for this, but that only allows a limited (read: small) number of people.

"Save Chat Log". 'Nuff said. ^_^ (I have no idea if this exists already, I never found any such thing.)

A LOT of the game seemed to be under the assumption that the player knew the bulk of the game mechanics, like keyboard layout, how to read the screen, where such-and-such was, what Attribute Point distribution can do for you, materials are your Friends, etc. It was forever before I learned that the collectors weren't just for set dressing, that they were the main source for armor, weapons, etc. in the first part of the game. I thought they were just your basic NPC's and so ignored them, since they didn't seem to have anything special about them. Maybe a function that can be turned on/off that puts an arrow or something over them.

The Acadamy almost killed the game for me. I was a monk, at level 6, and had NO idea what I was doing. Next thing I know, I get tossed into a gladitorial pit with an elementalist who dove in and got herself killed before I knew what was going on. Naturally, I died. THEN I was thrown into the Monster caves, and this time I had a warrior with me. (I hadn't found out what henchmen were like yet, so I didn't recognize what it was nor did I know how to control him. I still don't know.) The Henchman was a whopping level 1. He was almost useless. Four hours later and having leveled in the interim, I finally managed to get out of the Acadamy. After listening to the constant flow of insults from the sergent, I wasn't sure I wanted to bother defending the realm.
Perhaps, instead of this grinding system, something more tailored to the class in question? As a monk, I was better suited to being a supportive player, keeping the others alive, not fighting myself. (Not that I couldn't, but that's not what I'm best at.) Also, some basic tactical advice for each class would have been much more useful than being called a useless maggot every third death.

And one last thing, for any netiquette list makers out there: when someone wants to invite a person to join thier party, ask them before doing so! Please? I turned down so many invites AND they would run away before I could finish typing out asking them what they wanted. It made me feel ike I was the rude one.

There was probably more, but I can't think of any of it now. I hope this will be of some help! ^_^

(Skimming back over it, I just hope it makes sense! ^_^)

Default Suggestions

  1. Version history. I would like to see of what's been changed after the last stream. Especially changes to the skills.
  2. More info to the primary Character Screen. Levels of the characters etc.
  3. More details to the Staff that can be acquired from Tombs. It should somehow show roughly the amount of championships won, right at the first sight. Maybe there could be different staffs for 1-4 wins, 5-19 wins, 20-39 wins etc. Or the staff could include some sort of tokens indicating the amount of tournaments won. Maybe jewels.
  4. Monk spell Remove Hex takes too much time to cast. Hexes appear too numerously to have that kind of casting time.
  5. Female warrior should be more muscular to show off her physical greatness above the other professions - just like male warrior does.
  6. Option to select multiple henchmen of the same profession. For instance - 3 Monks to the same mission, both PvE and PvP.

How about different body shapes for all? Not every man looks like a wall on two legs, not every woman is willowy. This would also help identifying players at a distance without having to hold [crtl] or try to click them as the zip past.

I think it would be nice to be able to use the alt key to see your current team mates when putting a group together (same way as when in battles). This helps when you are in an area with alot of people and just want to move close to your group also. And/or be able to click on teammates in the group box so you can just move to them that way also (again same as when in battle).

EDIT: sorry, i'll make a new post for this.

hmmm...that's a pretty good suggestion.
Or how about displaying your teammates names in red or blue or some distinct color as opposed to the green you see when holding Cntrl or Alt?

Default 3D LCD Stereo Glasses Support

I know this is high in nerd factor, but if you haven't used 3D LCD shutter glasses for playing games before you don't know what you are missing. After a couple of adjustments I noticed that I had to turn off post processing (which is acceptable) and was able to get the interface text and graphics to be flat, but then I noticed that there was no depth in the 3D area (all objects were the same distance away). World of Warcraft and DungeonSiege do this really well, but with a game as beautifull as this it would be even nicer.

Default Just a couple suggestions

Hello Gaile and the rest of the Guild Wars community,

Just want to say I enjoyed the weekend event as I always do. Adding the skill option in PvP was a very nice addition with helped me prefect my build. It was a lot of fun to have some real competition, with people having nice builds. I know that March's event was directed to the PvP side of the game, so maybe that’s why some issues that where mentioned in the February's suggestion thread weren't added. I did love the resurrection shrine in some areas. Sorry if some of these are repeats.

1.) I am not against removing the skill traders. I am concerned how this will affect the PvP players such as myself on the availability of acquiring these skills to unlock them for PvP. My suggestion would be adding the skill crafter and upping the rate on ring drops.

2.) I agree with one post that the increased difficulty missions is a good thing. Henchmen though are just not balanced for these now. I'm not sure that the level of them is as big of issue as that lack of commands, skills and just plain, good old fashion AI. I enjoy PvE but at my own rate. Sitting back taking as long as I want to complete a mission. Its now virtually impossible to do them without a team. In my opinion the henchmen is a strong selling point for a lot of people in Guild Wars and I think you will end up losing a rather large customer base unless they are addressed.

3.) I actually very surprised that this wasn't added this event. I would love to see a remove quest button or something along those lines in your quest log.

4.) Multiple quest drops.

5.) Personally I think the chat is terrible in this game. I don’t mean to be harsh, but I am SO tired of using the wrong channel by mistake, while I'm hot in the action. I would like to see some more customize options for it. Such as transparently of boxes, the ability to change text size and color, being able to add more chat boxes and filter your choice of text to them. Allow us to minimize those boxes on screen if we wish. Not to mention being able to customize the group members box.

6.) Something I would love to have added is a way to link off your item you are selling into the channel. Having to type out the stats is a huge inconvenience.

7.) I personally like the hustle and bustle of towns. I think when the auction house is added you still will see a lot of spam in town with people trying to sell there wears. Not everyone likes to see this and it would be nice to have the people selling there goods be on a different chat channel and be able for people to add it to a different chat box (see number 5).

8.) A simple afk message and lfg message/flag of some sort would be a simple, but nice addition.

9.) I would like to be able to see where members of my guild are, there level, and class in guild management.

10.) The two shades are green in tombs battles are ridicules and very confusing at times.

11.) I would love to see a 1v1 or even a battle royal of some sort added to at the very least the guild halls.

Well....here's my "pipe dream". I would love see and think it would add another aspect to guilds and Guild Wars in general, if you would off some kind of RAIDS for guilds. Say up to 20-40ish group members. Have the zones respawn every week or two and have them zone from your guild hall to prevent competitions for spawns. I'm not saying any kind of super "uber" drops. Just a CHALLENGING end target in the zone with 8 or 9 yellow/green drops. It just seems to me that this would open up a WHOLE NEW aspect for guilds besides ONLY the option of the GvG.

Again thanks for your time and another great event. Looking forward to release!

Default More Diversity

I understand that much is yet to do and you will still be developing the game after its release. But here are a few of my suggestions that are a bit more defined than what I read (most of which are just a reply to some of the suggestions):

1. Regarding Attributes: Yes, I forgot them too, how about on new characters login, you display a message (one of those nice exclamation ones with info on it, about attributes) and if it's not seen display it every 10 min or so till the user allocates one attribute.

2. Regaring Balanced PvE: It's all in the build, I see way too often groups that take a brand new member into a mission area (such as a monk lvl 3) and expect him/her to keep up. I'm not saying to disallow this, but don't change the balancing because someone takes several Newb's into a difficult mission and expect them to perform well. Example including myself was entering the Breach and then past Pike, we beat everything and entered the area with Boulder elemental's (3 Wa, 1 Me) was our team, we found it rather quickly we were not able to win this one, but we just laughed it off and said we had a good time and went elsewhere.. just like real life not everything should be attainable easily, and teach the newbs how to get a few at a time and yes there is the option of just abandoning those who refuse to work as a team.
EDIT: I mean team build when stated in the first line.

3. Regarding Quests: There are different quests for different kinds of ppl (but I do agree on the rewards on some need to be beefed up) maybe an algorithm of user lvl and quest difficulty ?

4. Regarding Bank: I honestly don't see a need (except when your user hits 1000 gold it only shows 0.. at least for me), if you don't drop items or gold when you die. Why do you need a bank? But I DO agree on a house maybe to horde items and gold for those who see the need... it would also be neat that if you were part of a guild you wouldn't have a house but a room in your guild hall. This would also allow your Mesmer who found a nice sword for your Warrior the trouble of giving it to a friend, then loggin on the Warrior and getting it back.
EDIT: I do see a valid point for a Guild Bank that Guild members could pay their dues to (or donate to), and could be used for the betterment of a guild like new gear for new guild members.

5. Regarding AI for Henchman: Yes, settings would be nice and you don't even need many of them Support, Offense, Offense(Ranged), Guard

6. This item was just something I noticed when playing with friends. Would it be possible to keep the chat box from resetting to All everytime you enter a new area... you wouldn't get obviously personal or team oriented sayings in towns/staging areas. To go along with this, a hot key to swap the Whisper box through your friend's list instead of the N key then looking for th name and clicking on it. And I do agree on being able to invite members in different Districts/Regions to join your party but NOT in maps... that would cause a whole mess of problems.

7. Regarding Guild Wars: I do agree completely on multiple Guild Leaders (a council if you will), Guild Officers etc... If it is truly our guild to design, let us design it as we will. This would make for interesting dynamics in Guild Wars not too mention better represent the Guild's of the Medieval/Dark Age.

8. Regading Collision Detection: I agree and disagree, some of the maps are WAY too linear... turned into a mere hack and slash game. But then again, if you don't give us the little green arrow we are totally screwed when it comes to completing quests in large versatile land maps. My suggestion is to give a green arrow but have it point in the general direction and a very good bit BEFORE it comes on the radar have it disappear... this would give us a major clue which direction to go but not tell us exactly where (it could even just be there for the first 20 seconds of entering a map) and it would do wonders.

9. Hotkeys Hotkeys Hotkeys: Please oh Please give me preset hotkeys (or let me customize my own) for saying such as "Watch your health!" "Retreat!" "More Enemies!" those 3 are the main ones, having to open a chat window and type these in takes away time and a player who isn't closely watching his health often dies if I can't type fast enough or I accidentally click off of the chat window. And it could be said to your target i.e. I have Jane Doe targeted, and we have no healing abilities I could hit Shift+R and it would automatically display
Retreat Jane Doe!
or Shift+W then Shift+R would give
Watch Your Health Jane Doe!
Retreat Jane Doe!

That's basically all of my rebuttals and suggestions. If anyone has questions, want to laugh at my silly suggestions, want a guild wars friend, or need help let me know.

for the post above... when you reach a 1000 gold it doesnt go to 0 its changed to platinum, look to the left of the gold

also about the arrow in the general direction... usually there isnt just a general direction, many of the places have more than one way of getting there, thats the whole exploration portion of the game

just my take... to each their own

also a way of accessing items from other chars you have i think would be cool, but the stash everyone keeps asking for kinda defeats the purpose of having a limited invintory and having to purchase bags and such, iono

1. i know there is trade option... i mean 'player stores' - you put your items to your own store and go some sleep... morning when you wake up you are rich men - something similar to L2 stores, you know what i mean.

2. if more types of weapons are promised im really happy

3. cross-class items... yeah you are right, i remember now. i found some staff req fire magic and gives +X to death magic so i guess it is for E/N or N/E.

Then there should be an arrow for general direction in each map you enter for a brief time (for the highlighted quest of course otherwise very confusing). Exploration is fun but those who want to finish quests will end up trying to ask everyone they see or know which way to go . And your right, this may be a personal suggestion instead of a game improvement. To each their own.

What is the purpose of a limited inventory? To sell your items right away instead of waiting for when you feel like it or have the time? I Or to have to visit outfitters immediately after exiting a region just so your inventory isn't filled with stuff you would like to keep such as crafting materials but can't? Nah, on a mission I usually fill my backpack and bags even though their pretty close to empty going into it. I guess what I am getting at is.. what is the difference between setting aside items that could be sold for the same amount later (or may prove beneficial to friends and guild members), and selling it right away or juggling it with friends till that person comes online and can take that item? I understand, that if the concept of the game is geared towards not being able to horde items, then this is completely irrevelant. Either way, I'm eager to play, and I would also like to note that many people love to play the role of a merchant (as noted) and this could help them severely on storing items they bought to sell later when the price goes up. But the downfall is, you will have more rare items in trade circulation, and may come overabundant and there is always that nasty factor of storage space on the servers for half a million players (especially with no monthly fee). Still, give props to arena, for being the first at creating a new RPG that doesn't charge those nasty fees.

I think that'd be a neat option, if they could find a neat way of implementing... i dont think everyone could have their own store persay, but as others have mentioned like an auction house type place, or a market place where you could shop for other peoples items and stuff
